Travel-Proof Your Finances

It's heating up and you're ready for your summer adventures. But do you have your finances in check before take-off? Preparing for a trip is important and below are some easy tips to help make your vacation even more stress-free and relaxing.

Pay upcoming bills. To ensure the most relaxation possible on vacation, be sure your bills are paid before departure. Automatic payments make it easy, so you never have to worry about missing a due date.

Notify your credit card company. There is nothing worse than getting a denied notification when trying to use your card on vacation. Be sure to call your credit card provider and notify Western of your upcoming travel.

Take the essentials. Be sure to go through your wallet and take out any unnecessary cards. Pack just want you need and leave the rest at home in a secure place.

Emergency Cash Stash. Always carry a small amount of local currency in a secure spot, just in case your cards stop working or your phone has issues. It can be a lifesaver in situations where digital payments or ATM access aren't available.

Set up alerts on your accounts. Account alerts can be helpful while you are traveling. Alerts can notify you of any fraudulent activity or if your balance falls below a certain amount. If you bank with Western, we'd be happy to help you set up these digital notices while you are away.

Stay alert for travel scams. With so many scams targeting travelers, it's important to remain vigilant. If something feels off or too good to be true, trust your instincts. It is probably a scam. Always research thoroughly and book through trusted sources to protect yourself.
